Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is considering a move for Southampton defender Cedric Soares as he looks to revitalise his back line, according to reports from ESPN.
The Portugal international, who penned a new contract at St. Mary’s last summer, was part of the side which won Euro 2016 in France, and has once again been key to the Saints this season.
Having missed parts of the season through injury, there has been a clear hole in the side whenever the former Sporting Lisbon man has been absent.
The former Barcelona boss is looking to rejuvenate his defence over the coming months, having brought in John Stones last summer, and will look to replace his full-backs – all of whom are over the age of 30.
The 25-year-old has made over 50 appearances for the south coast club and, although he is yet to register a goal for the Saints, has come on leaps and bounds since coming in as a replacement for Nathaniel Clyne.
